Blockson BDC is a Cleveland-based, minority- and woman-owned consultancy that delivers specialized support in risk management, program execution, and community-driven development. We partner with public agencies, prime contractors, and mission-aligned organizations to ensure impactful, accountable project outcomes.

Year 1: Small Business Grants and Nonprofit Partnerships
In its founding year, Blockson BDC concentrated on supporting small businesses — especially those facing economic hardship. Over four years, we have assisted in distributing more than $45 million in small business relief to more than 5,000 businesses. These funds helped entrepreneurs across the country stabilize, recover, and grow. This early work cemented our role as a trusted connector between funders, operators, and the communities they serve.

Year 2: Expanding into Business Improvement and Real Estate Services
In our second year, Blockson BDC expanded into place-based economic development by supporting business improvement district management in partnership with Campus District Inc. We also began offering community benefit consulting and business development support on real estate projects with Ozanne Construction.
These engagements broadened our reach—from business relief to built environment strategies—strengthening our ability to navigate both public and private sector initiatives.
Years 3-4: Business Revitalization and Expansion
During Years 3 and 4, Blockson BDC played a pivotal role in helping small businesses stabilize and scale. A standout example was our work with Bodega Restaurant and Lounge, where we guided its strategic pivot into a catering and events-focused enterprise.
This work demonstrated our ability to lead revitalization efforts, align business models with market shifts, and position local entrepreneurs for sustainable growth.

Blockson BDC successfully administered the Cuyahoga County Small Business STIMulus Grant Program, awarding $1.82 million to 67 businesses in Cuyahoga County.
Real Estate Development

We apply a compliance-forward, community-aware lens to every engagement, ensuring real estate projects create value that lasts.
Specific Example:
Blockson BDC served as a community benefit consultant to Ozanne Construction in 2022. While the engagement was short-term, we provided targeted support on outreach, stakeholder engagement, and community benefit agreement development. The work included coordinating with City of Cleveland leaders, community development corporations, and housing entities on behalf of Ozanne’s projects, including Charles Lake.
